Another 3,500 Invited in Most Recent Draw

Express Entry draw 247 distributed 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates having a CRS of at least 483. Because there was no stated program for the draw, invitations were extended to candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

The draw yesterday was also the second of April. In comparison to draw 246, the same number of invites were issued, but the CRS score dropped by three points. In comparison, the highest all-programs draws were held in March, with 7,000 candidates invited in each draw for three weeks in a row. The previous two draws, however, showed a drop in that trend, with 3,500 invited, half of the abnormally high draws in March.

This year’s Express Entry draws have followed an odd trend. The draws have always taken place on Wednesday afternoons, twice a month. However, weekly draws were held in March, with one on a Thursday. This makes predicting when the next draw will take place difficult; however, as drawings continue, they will likely form a more clear pattern.

A Historic Month for Express Entry in March

In March 2023, Canada’s Express Entry program experienced a milestone month. In March, four draws were held, yielding a total of 21,667 ITAs. This was the highest number of ITAs granted in a single month in over two years and the second-highest total of all time.Three years in a row, March witnessed the largest all-programs draw in history. 7,000 individuals were asked to apply for Canadian PR on March 15th. This surpassed the previous record of 5,500 ITAs issued on January 18th. It was also noteworthy that the March 23rd and 29th draws each welcomed 7,000 contestants. This contributed to March being a record-breaking month, with 21,000 ITAs issued over three weeks.

March also recorded the lowest CRS score in 27 months, which is a very positive indicator. The Comprehensive Ranking System score is an essential indicator of a candidate’s chances of receiving an ITA. Only individuals with a CRS score greater than the cut-off will receive an ITA; therefore, those with higher scores are more likely to acquire one.

The surge in ITAs underscores the government’s long-term economic growth objective of bringing talented professionals and their families to Canada.

What Is Express Entry and How Can I Apply?

The Canadian government uses Express Entry to administer applications for Canadian permanent residency. Express Entry ranks candidates’ profiles using a point-based system known as the CRS. The system oversees three major programs:
